The Early Career Scientists 7th Annual Research Symposium will be held at the University of Birmingham with a focus on
Epidemiology and Infection Control
. The symposium aims to bring together microbiologists, epidemiologists, public health researchers, academics, practitioners and most importantly early career scientists and undergraduate students. The symposium is a forum for those who wish to exchange and share their experiences, ideas and research on all aspects of epidemiology and infection control. The Symposium will also include a public engagement workshop given by the incredible team at
Sense about Science
It will also provide the chance to hear from
Fin Twomey, Head of Animal Public Health at Defra
Jonathan Van-Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England
, our premier keynote speakers. They will discuss the most recent innovations, trends, challenges and adopted solutions in the fields of epidemiology and infection control.
All Early Career Scientists (including undergraduates) are encouraged to contribute to and help shape the conference through submissions of their research abstracts, papers and e-posters. The symposium welcomes contributions from any area of applied microbiology as well as work that addresses the themes and topics of the conference.

For those interested in presenting their work, abstracts can be submitted using
. Travel expenses within the UK and EU of up to £100 will be paid to oral and poster presenters (subject to prior approval). The deadline for abstract submissions is

Up to 30 days prior to the event all cancellations will be subject to a 20% cancellation fee, up to 14 days prior to the event there will be a 50% cancellation fee, and no refunds will be given on cancellations made within 14 days of the event.
